Herefordshire submits bid for UK City of Culture 2029

Herefordshire has launched a bold, county‑wide partnership bid to become UK City of Culture 2029, uniting arts, culture and heritage organisations, creative businesses, community groups and public sector partners. Its focus is A Living Borderland, shaped by landscapes, communities and shared identity, showing how culture can thrive in every part of a rural county.

The bid would bring high‑quality arts and experiences culture to villages, towns and rural spaces; boost the £230m+ creative economy and improve well-being. The Expression of Interest submitted to Government highlights artistic innovation, strengthened pride, visitor economy and employment growth opportunities and a vibrant, connected cultural future for the county.
