As the colder months approach, many households are starting to think about higher heating bills, increased energy use and the extra pressures that winter can bring. For some, an unexpected expense or change in circumstances can quickly turn into a financial crisis.
That’s where the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) can help. The fund, supported by the Department for Work and Pensions, provides practical support for people facing financial hardship, as well as helping residents build longer-term financial resilience.
An important part of the CRF at this time of year is support for low-income households that rely on heating oil or LPG, particularly where there is a risk of losing access to heating or hot water. There is also support for housing-related costs and people facing a short-term crisis. The fund also works with local organisations to connect people with wider support available in their communities, including advice and support to improve long-term financial stability.
